Last Saturday, we had another Art Playdate. This time, with a whopping number of 13 Art Friends! Wow!
For this playdate, we had 10 adults and three kids (including my 4 year old Banana). A lot of us met each other for the first time but it didn’t really matter. We were mostly familiar with each other’s names and artwork through our Facebook group and Instagram. Besides, the art stuff show and tell is a great icebreaker.
Too bad, I was not able to have pictures taken of all of us.
We’ve come a long way from our first playdate last October 2013.
So what do we do on playdates?
- Art stuff show and tell. These include sketchbooks, art journals, notebooks, papers, various types of pens, paints, pencils and ink, art books, nibs, ongoing and / or finished artwork
- Doodle, paint, calligraphy, lettering – to each his own – there is no theme or common assignment. We work on current or new projects. We experiment with each other’s toys (art stuff), we copy from each other’s books, we get inspired from each other’s work
- Conversation and consultation – workshops we’ve tried or want to try, art stuff (where to get what), blogs / websites / Instagram / Facebook groups we follow, tips and tricks on using various products, art and craft stores we’ve been to
- Bonding – We don’t meet that often so these sessions are really getting to know and catching up sessions with each other. I find it so inspiring and meaningful to spend an entire afternoon with a bunch of other wonderful people who enjoy the same things I do
Some art work
These are just some of the art work completed that afternoon. I wish I had more pictures but I was too busy enjoying myself chatting away and working on my own project.
Ahhh… last Saturday was simply… BLISSFUL! To be very honest, I wanted to spend a little more time with my friends but we did have our families to get back to. Can’t wait to go on another playdate soon!
